Abstract

I will present some recent results on the optimal design of experiments in a multi-task setting where different tasks arise as projections within a high dimensional Hilbert space. Intuitively, natural distance measures between the subspaces, like the operator norm between the corresponding projection operators, characterize how much information can be carried over from past tasks. While intuitive, I will show that it is not straight forward to make use of the information contained in past tasks.
