Ron M. Roth

Ron M. Roth

Professor, Technion

Ron M. Roth received the BSc degree in computer engineering (1980), the MSc in electrical engineering (1984), and the DSc in computer science (1988) from Technion, Haifa, Israel. Since 1988 he has been with the Computer Science Department at Technion, where he now holds the General Yaakov Dori Chair in Engineering. He is an IEEE Fellow, and has held visiting research positions at IBM Research Division, HP Labs, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, and UC San Diego. Dr. Roth is the author of the book "Introduction to Coding Theory" (published in 2006). He served as an Associate Editor for Coding Theory in IEEE Transactions on Information Theory and he is currently serving as an Associate Editor in SIAM Journal on Discrete Mathematics. His 1993 paper "New Array Codes for Multiple Phased Burst Correction," co-authored with M. Blaum, received the 2021 NVMW Persistent Impact Prize for ECC. His research interests include coding theory, information theory, and their application to storage, computation, and the theory of complexity.
