Robert (Riley) Nerem is a Data Science PhD student at the University of California San Diego studying under the advisement of Prof. Yusu Wang. His current focus is on approaches to combinatorial optimization that simultaneously leverage traditional algorithms and machine learning. In particular, he is interested in developing techniques that promote generalization to larger problem instances than seen in training. His past work includes mathematical biology and quantum algorithms.
