Martin Kupiec

Professor, Tel Aviv University

Martin Kupiec is a Pasha Gol Professor of Molecular Genetics at Tel Aviv University. He is currently the President of the Genetics Society of Israel and the Constantiner Institute for Molecular Genetics at Tel Aviv University. Using yeast cells (S. cerevisiae and S. pombe) as model systems, the Kupiec lab studies basic biological questions about genome function and maintenance. Among other subjects, they study the mechanisms that maintain genome stability, such as DNA repair, the cellular responses to DNA damage and the mechanisms that control telomere length. In addition, they investigate the TOR pathway of nutrient sensing, and other aspects of genome function and organization.
