Levent Tunçel

Professor, University of Waterloo

Levent Tunçel is a Professor in the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization, within the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo. He received his master's degrees from the Middle East Technical University and Cornell University, in 1988 and 1990, respectively. He completed his PhD in 1992 at Cornell University.

He is the author of the monograph, Polyhedral and Semidefinite Programming Methods in Combinatorial Optimization, and co-authored the textbook, A Gentle Introduction to Optimization. Currently, he serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, Mathematical Programming A, Mathematics of Operations Research, and SIAM Journal on Optimization. Tunçel's research is in mathematical optimization and the mathematics of operations research, which aims at understanding the structure of optimization problems and designing provably efficient methods for solving them.
