Johann Makowsky

Professor, Technion Israel Institute of Technology

Johann (Janos) Makowsky is currently a full professor in the Faculty of Computer Science of the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, in Haifa. He joined the Technion in 1980. He received his PhD in 1974 from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. From 1975 to 1980, he had a regular position at the Free University in Berlin. He has held various visiting positions in the USA, Switzerland, Italy and Poland. In the past, he worked in mathematical logic and the logical foundations of computer science. His current interests are model theoretic methods in finite combinatorics, counting functions and graph polynomials.
