Chuck Newman

Professor, NYU

Charles (Chuck) Newman is a Silver Professor of Mathematics at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University and an Affiliated Professor of Mathematics at NYU Shanghai. He holds an MA and a PhD in Physics from Princeton University, and BS degrees in Mathematics and Physics from MIT.

Professor Newman is a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society and of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and a member of the International Association of Mathematical Physicists. He is also a member of the US National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Brazilian Academy of Sciences.

His main interests are probability theory and statistical physics. He co-authored Spin Glasses and Complexity with Daniel L. Stein in 2013.
