Adel Javanmard

Assistant Professor, University of Southern California

Adel Javanmard is an assistant professor in the department of Data Sciences and Operation, at the University of California's Marshall School of Business. Prior to joining USC, he was a postdoctoral research fellow for a year at the Center for Science of Information, with worksites at UC Berkeley and Stanford University. He received his PhD and MSc in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 2014 and 2010, respectively. His research interests are broadly in the area of high-dimensional statistics, machine learning, optimization, and graphical models. Adel has won several awards and fellowships, including the Zumberge Faculty Research and Innovation Fund (2017), the Google Faculty Research Award (2016), the Thomas Cover Dissertation Award from the IEEE Society (2015), and the CSoI Postdoctoral Fellowship (2014). Adel was also a finalist for the best student paper award at the IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT) in 2011 and 2012.
