A Conversation about (Science) Communication

Dana will talk first about his transition from Ph.D. mathematician to full-time freelance science writer. He will describe some of the academic habits he had to un-learn along the way, and the attitude adjustments that are essential to succeed in writing for the public. Finally, more broadly, he will talk about the importance of valuing and encouraging interaction between scientists and the public. Communication should go in both directions, and in that spirit he invites the audience to share their own stories and questions.
