Over the last 30 years, garbled circuits have evolved from a purely theoretical technique to a fundamental and practical cryptographic primitive. In this talk, I will survey the optimizations that have significantly improved the efficiency of garbled circuit constructions. The primary focus will be on reducing the size of garbled circuits, but other performance optimizations of the underlying crypto will be discussed as well.
