Abstract
This talk is an introduction to quantum codes, aimed at a general (not-necessarily-quantum) audience. We begin with a brief introduction to quantum computing. Then, we will introduce a powerful family of quantum codes known as CSS codes. Finally, we will conclude by showing two examples of CSS codes: the Steane code and the toric code.
