Abstract

The idea of training a machine within a couple of months to match human intelligence--capable of speaking and perceiving the world as we do--seemed like science fiction just a few years ago. Now, we even dare to dream of building machines that could surpass the collective consciousness of humanity in the coming years. This talk will explore the fundamental ideas behind this significant shift in sentiment. We will discuss and debate what lies ahead, highlighting the remaining theoretical and empirical challenges as we navigate the path toward developing artificial general intelligence.
