Steven Sam received his PhD in mathematics from MIT under the joint supervision of Richard Stanley and Jerzy Weyman. He is currently a Miller postdoctoral fellow at UC Berkeley. His current research focuses on problems at the interface of representation theory, commutative algebra and algebraic geometry.
