Rebecca C. Fan

Rebecca C. Fan is a postdoctoral visiting scholar at the Center for Science, Technology, Medicine, and Society (CSTMS), University of California at Berkeley. Her current research investigates computational tools and data-driven technologies to evaluate their impact on human rights.  

She taught human rights modules at the University of London and University of Essex as a guest lecturer. Her doctoral thesis examined heterogeneous legal regimes of intellectual property, human rights, and environmental law based on fieldwork at the United Nations. It analyzed the epistemological struggle of knowledge, power, and governance affecting vulnerable groups (indigenous peoples) and biocultural diversity.
