Johannes Buchmann

Professor, TU Darmstadt

Johannes Buchmann is a professor of Computer Science and Mathematics at Technische Universität Darmstadt. From 2001 to 2007, he was Vice President Research of TU Darmstadt. From 2008 to 2011, he was the founding director of the Center of Advanced Security Research CASED. He is the spokesperson of the Collaborative Research Center CROSSING of the German Research Foundation, of the Profile Area CYSEC - Cybersecurity [at] TU Darmstadt and of the Center for Research in Security and Privacy CRISP. In 1993, he received the Leibniz-Prize of the German Science Foundation, and in 2012, the Tsungming Tu Award of Taiwan. He is a member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering acatech and of the German Academy of Science Leopoldina. His research interests include algorithmic number theory, cryptography, cybersecurity, and privacy.
