Caterina Calsamiglia

Professor, IPEG

Caterina Calsamiglia is an ICREA Research Professor at IPEG (UPF) in Barcelona. She got her PhD from the Department of Economics at Yale University. She is a CEPR research affiliate and a member of the Human Capital and Economic Opportunity group led by Steven Durlauf and James Heckman at the University of Chicago.

Her research focuses on Public Economics with an emphasis on school choice, affirmative action and welfare economics. Her work includes theoretical, experimental and empirical analysis. Her work as been published in leading journals such as the American Economic Review, Journal of the European Economic Association, the International Economic Review or the Journal of Public Economics, among others.

She obtained and ERC Starting Grant in 2014 to work on understanding the importance of the design of school choice procedures for the educational landscape. She recently started working on measuring and assessing non cognitive traits by leading an interdisciplinary group of researchers.
