Simons Quantum Postdoctoral Fellowships | Call for applications
The Simons Institute at UC Berkeley announces several prestigious one-year or two-year postdoctoral fellowship positions in the broad area of quantum computation starting Fall 2021. These postdoctoral positions are part of a broader activity in quantum computation at the Simons Institute, which will also include senior visitors, summer clusters and semester-long programs. It sits within a larger ecosystem of quantum science activities at U.C. Berkeley, cutting across CS, physics, chemistry and mathematics. The Postdoctoral Fellowships are intended for exceptional young scientists (within at most five years of the award of their PhD at the start of academic year 2021-22), broadly in quantum computing, including quantum complexity theory and cryptography, quantum algorithms including quantum machine learning and quantum chemistry, and quantum information. The Institute particularly encourages applications from women and minority candidates.
The Simons Institute for the Theory of Computing is a major international venue for collaborative research in theoretical computer science and related fields. The Institute is housed in Calvin Lab, a dedicated building on the UC Berkeley campus, and provides a vibrant and welcoming environment for visiting researchers. In each academic semester, the Institute hosts specific research programs, each of which attracts around sixty long-term participants ranging from senior scientists to graduate students.
