Alistair Sinclair receives 2017 ACM SIGACT Distinguished Service Prize

ACM SIGACT has awarded its 2017 Distinguished Service Prize to Simons Institute Associate Director Alistair Sinclair, "for his role in the spectacular success of the Simons Institute for the Theory of Computing in taking collaboration in our field to an entirely new level."

The award committee writes, "Alistair has led this effort with total dedication, a clear vision of a big picture, a creative architectural vision, attention to the smallest detail, and a remarkable skill at bringing the best people on board, including extracting their commitment to long-term physical presence. Organizer after organizer of the semester-long programs acknowledges Alistair’s total engagement with each program, his sound guidance at every stage from planning to running the event coupled with his steely resolve to meet deadlines and bring each program to success."
