Description

To continue on the reading group about epidemic models and networks on Oct 3, we will have short whiteboard discussions about open problems, including, but not limited to, epidemic control and interventions, inference for epidemic dynamics on networks, meso-scale models, modern data collection & access, etc.

  1. Tom Britton (Stockholm University) will talk about the effect of going from a homogeneous setting and to heteorgeneity (within some specified class of e.g. network epidemics); the effect on R_0 and the final outbreak size \tau.
  2. Cris Moore (Santa Fe Institute) will talk about sparsification for epidemic models; see https://arxiv.org/abs/2111.02449 for a reference.
