Noa Vaknin
Noa Vaknin is a PhD candidate in the Computer Science Department at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where she received her master’s and bachelor’s degrees (with honors). Vaknin’s research focuses on accelerating matrix multiplication based on Strassen’s 1969 algorithm. The unique angle of her research combines both theoretical and implementational aspects, including communication and computation reductions. Under the guidance of Prof. Oded Schwartz, she has improved the performance of matrix multiplication significantly, as compared to Intel’s state-of-the-art implementation.
Her work has been published in SIAM’s Journal on Scientific Computing (SISC) and in the 38th IEEE IPDPS conference, and she has presented at several international conferences. She peer reviews publications for journals and conferences in the field. Vaknin’s research is funded by the Clore Foundation and by the Council for Higher Education (Vatat), and has been granted multiple awards.
