Abstract

Floquet codes and other dynamical codes which change constantly offer a new avenue for quantum error correction. We give an algorithm for determining which error syndrome bits can be collected in an arbitrary dynamical code. It reveals some unexpected possible structures for Floquet codes: In particular, there are Floquet codes which take a long time to be initialized and to reveal their syndrome information despite a short repetitive measurement cycle.
