Solving Polynomials

Lecture 1: Solving Polynomials I
Lecture 2: Solving Polynomials II

This series of talks was part of the Algebraic Geometry Boot Camp. Videos for each talk are available through the links above.

Speaker: Jonathan Hauenstein, University of Notre Dame

Polynomial system solving can be viewed with either an algebraic or a geometric focus. The algebraic side typically uses Grobner basis computations while the geometric side uses witness sets and homotopy continuation. This talk will first provide a brief review of solving polynomial system using algebraic methods followed by an introduction to geometric methods via numerical algebraic geometry.
