Tomas Gonzalez is a third-year PhD student in the Machine Learning Department at Carnegie Mellon University, co-advised by Aaditya Ramdas and Giulia Fanti. He earned his MSc from the Institute for Mathematical and Computational Engineering at the Catholic University of Chile, advised by Cristóbal Guzmán (2021-2023).
His research focuses on the algorithmic and statistical foundations of modern machine learning, with emphasis on optimization, generative modeling, and collective decision-making under differential privacy. His work has been published at COLT and ICML, and he was a Student Researcher at Google with Courtney Paquette and Fabian Pedregosa (2022-2023).
