Jiaoyang Huang

Jiaoyang Huang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Statistics and Data Science at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Mathematics. He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Harvard University in 2019, under the supervision of Professor Horng-Tzer Yau. Following his doctoral studies, he was a member at the Institute for Advanced Study from 2019 to 2020, and a Simons Junior Fellow at New York University from 2020 to 2022.

His research focuses on random matrix theory, a mathematical framework widely used across modern science and engineering. He develops and applies this theory to study the universal behavior of sparse random graphs, interacting particle systems, and random growth models—problems with deep connections to graph theory, network theory, and mathematical physics.
