Why Should I Care About Tensor Networks?

Tensor networks are objects that give a rigorous pictorial perspective that has been exploited in a surprising variety of areas including condensed matter physics, quantum computation, knot theory, and subfactor theory.  At their core, tensor networks provide a very helpful view of linear algebra.    In this talk, I'll try to share an overview of my perspective.   I'll strive to build up the basics from scratch and then, through various examples, give a feel for their utility.  My hope is that both audience and speaker will come away with something new.
