Swati Gupta

Assistant Professor, Georgia Institute of Technology

Swati Gupta is an assistant professor in the School of Industrial & Systems Engineering, and the Machine Learning Center at Georgia Institute of Technology. She received her PhD in Operations Research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2017, and a dual degree (bachelor's and master's) in Computer Science & Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Gupta’s research interests are in optimization, machine learning, algorithmic fairness, interpretability, transparency and gameability. She received the NSF Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) Research Initiation Initiative Award in 2019. She was also awarded the prestigious Simons-Berkeley Research Fellowship in 2017-2018, and was selected as the Microsoft Research Fellow in 2018. Gupta received the Google Women in Engineering Award in India in 2011.

Gupta’s research and students have received various recognitions including honorable mention in the INFORMS Undergraduate Operations Research Prize 2018, special recognition in the INFORMS Computing Society Student Paper Competition in 2016, and finalist in the INFORMS Service Science Student Paper Competition. Her research is partially funded by the National Science Foundation.
