Sungjin Im

Assistant Professor, UC Merced

Sungjin Im is currently an assistant professor at the University of California at Merced. He obtained his BS and MS in computer science at Seoul National University in 2002 and 2004, respectively. He received his PhD in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2012. He was a postdoctoral associate at Duke University until 2013. His PhD study was mainly supported by the Samsung Fellowship. His work on broadcast scheduling won the Best Student Paper Award at the ACM-SIAM Symposium on Discrete Algorithms (SODA) in 2010. His main research interests are in design and analysis of algorithms and their applications, particularly in online algorithms, approximation algorithms, scheduling algorithms, game theory, and combinatorial optimization.
