Kazuo Iwama

Professor, Kyoto University

Kazuo Iwama received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Kyoto University in 1980 and is currently a professor in the School of Informatics. Prior to that he worked at Kyoto Sangyo University and Kyushu University. Iwama is the founder and chair of AAAC (Asian Association for Algorithms and Computation), a council member of EATCS, and a steering committee member of ESA. He is also on the editorial board of the following publications: Algorithmica, ACM Transactions on Computation Theory, and International Journal of Foundations of Computer Science. He received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Latvia in 2008 and is a member of Academia Europaea.  Iwama's research interests lie broadly in the areas of algorithms and complexity theory.
